I have recently been shopping around for a duffel bag that can double as a backpack for some of my longer trips where I want to pack everything into one bag. I had recently been using an eBags Weekender backpack, but I felt that a duffel bag offered a little more space and packing flexibility. I have always loved Incase bags so I was very excited to try their new line of Tracto bags (I went with the Small-40L version of the Tracto Split) and I have to say I was very impressed. Below I have included some of the pros and cons that I noticed as I was testing the bag out.

Pros

  • Very Spacious-even though it is the "small" version you can pack A LOT into this little bag
  • Nice Looking-the black version of the Tracto bag is gorgeous and is able to maintain a slim profile so that you don't look like you are carrying the world with you when you wear it using its removable backpack straps
  • Carry On Size-the small version of the Tracto complies with carry on requirements for most international airlines
  • Durability-this bag is super rugged and looks like it can withstand years of abuse (not to mention it looks like it would keep your belongings dry and safe in any environment
  • Organization-the clamshell design (shown below) is awesome for organizing all of your items when you are packing and makes it easy to get to everything regardless of whether it is located on the bottom of the bag

Cons

  • Zippers-the bag's durability comes with a little bit of frustration as the zippers are so durable that they can actually be hard to open (this may also be to the newness of the bag so I will keep an eye on this through further use
  • Straps-when using the bag's backpack straps, there is no way to remove or tie down the other carrying handles which usually leaves them hanging to the side awkwardly or they just end up getting in the way when you are trying to quickly open your bag
  • Support Straps-it would have been nice if the backpack straps came with some sort of chest or waist straps to help with the weight when you fill up the bag completely
  • Backpack straps-although it's awesome that the bag includes backpack straps, it is important to remember this is first and foremost a duffel so the backpack straps are not as comfortable on what you would find on an actual backpack

Verdict

8/10: Overall I really liked this bag and I am excited to test it in a real world travel scenario during my next trip. The space, the look, and the quality are all top notch and although there are a few cons, this is still a great hybrid bag that I would definitely recommend if you are a fan of Incase products and if you are in the market for a new duffel bag.
