Since the original Amazon Echo was announced, I have been so curious to see what all the hype with Alexa is about, but I was very hesitant to invest $180 dollars on what seemed like a pretty limited device. Amazon answered my prayers when they released the Echo Dot at a $50 price point, and although it was sold out for a bit, I was finally able to order mine and start to see what everyone has been talking about. Below I outline what I thought were the main pros and cons of the Echo Dot, but overall I was really impressed with how well Amazon has been able to execute on this vision and create a product that makes you feel like you are in the future.

I have been rocking an Incase Campus Pack for a few years now and I have absolutely loved using the bag everyday. It is still alive and well, but it is starting to look a little worn so I decided to start looking for my next everyday bag. the Incase Reform Action Camera Bag immediately caught my eye due to its size and the amount of different pockets/organizational options that it seemed to offer so I decided to try it out. Below I have included some of the pros and cons that I noticed as I was testing the bag out.
I have recently been shopping around for a duffel bag that can double as a backpack for some of my longer trips where I want to pack everything into one bag. I had recently been using an eBags Weekender backpack, but I felt that a duffel bag offered a little more space and packing flexibility. I have always loved Incase bags so I was very excited to try their new line of Tracto bags (I went with the Small-40L version of the Tracto Split) and I have to say I was very impressed. Below I have included some of the pros and cons that I noticed as I was testing the bag out.
Standing desks are becoming more and more common across offices around the world, but there are still so many people who are curious, but still a little scared to take the jump and just give it a try. As somone who has been working on a standing desk for a while (and who absolutely loves it) I thought I'd put together a quick list of pros and cons so that if someone is curious about trying it and would like to know more, they have a general idea of what they can expect.
So how different is it to go from an iPhone 6s to a 7? Honestly, not that much, and thats a good thing as the 6s was an excellent phone. As it has been for the past couple of iterations of the iPhone, the changes have been mostly gradual: better camera, longer-lasting battery, faster processors, etc. These are always welcome changes, but definitely not a reason to rush to change if you are only one version behind. The iPhone 7, however, brings about some bigger changes than usual which I will discuss in a little more detail below and clarify how that affects the typical iPhone experience.
As an industrial engineer I have a natural affinity for optimization and this especially applies to finding new ways to improve my everyday workflow. There are currently so many apps available on so many different platforms to help people improve their lives and find ways to live more efficiently. However, there are so many that it can be overwhelming to pick just one without having that nagging fear of missing out on a different app that might have that one feature that would just make everything perfect. I have spent many hours (a little ironic considering I am supposed to be using these to be more efficient haha) evaluating as many of these apps as I could and have included the apps that I use on a daily basis in this post.
I learned about Tim Ferriss from several videos that my friends had been circulating around my Facebook feed and from a few of his blog posts that I've come across after hours of random web browsing. After a little more research, I discovered that he had written a pretty well-known book called the 4-Hour Workweek. In the book, Mr. Ferriss describes his transition into what he calls the "New Rich" and the different ways he has created complete freedom for himself to travel and dabble in whatever hobbies strike his fancy. Since the book was only 2 or 3 dollars on Amazon and I was in need of a quick read I purchased the book to scroll through while waiting in line at various stores during my weekly errands. All I can say is wow. This book packs a ton of information into a very readable and entertaining format that I found very inspiring and difficult to put down! Throughout the book, the author discusses a variety of topics including how to manage your time more effectively, eliminate distractions and waste from your life, travel well and often, and even how to create a business that will help earn you income while you do as you like with your time. From other reviews I had read I expected the book to give a very shallow and not necessarily useful view on these topics, but man was I surprised. In reality, the author takes you step by step through each of his processes and gives many alternatives on ways to get started. In addition, he includes real-life examples submitted from his readers on the ways they have applied his techniques to improve their lives. Although, not everything in the book necessarily applied to my situation, it most certainly had me thinking different on many of my current habits and considering new ways of living. I am excited to look into many of the services and ideas he recommended and I recommend that anyone looking to make any sort of change in their life give this book a chance!
I have been curious to actually wear the Apple Watch since it was first announced by Apple last year. I have never had a particular impression of smart watches/wearables and I was curious to see if Apple would manage to change my mind as it had managed to do on so many niche products in the past. I was always to lazy to wait in line or make an appointment to try it on at the Apple Store (what were they thinking? smh), but when it was announced that the watches would now be sold at Best Buy I knew the moment of truth had come. Last weekend I ran to Best Buy and finally tried on an Apple Watch Sport.
